Casey must have had issues in his former life. He was quite stressed and nervous at the animal control and when he came to us,he was all stressed and nervous AND a fear biter. That took about 3 days to get over, and he seems pretty stable at this time, tho if he's picked up without realizing it might happen, he will air snap. We don't' push him to see if he'd make contact. No way to know what happened to this guy in the past, but eventually he should pack those fears away and enjoy life again. These dobes are bro and sis - 5 years old- who've been bumped from their home due to foreclosure.....Unfortunately they lived for 5 years in Collier County - outdoors. Also unfortunately- they are heartworm positive. No surprise there. They are cropped and flopped, the former owner says Princess was never bred but she certainly could fool me. These are actually lovely dobes with solid temperaments. Princess is not fond of small dogs -likely because the ones here agitate her to no end. A dear little "used up breeder" chi - dumped as a stray at animal control and scared out of her wits. She was way too fearful and a biter so she needed a "rescue" big time. First afternoon- yes- she was very scared. By the next morning, she was a happy girl, following the humans, wanting petted..... A whole new dog. She weighs 6.7 lbs. Has had a few litters of little chihuahuas. Is affectionate and smart and heartworm positive!!!!!! She started on the slow treatment and is doing great. Rachel was a medical disaster. Unclaimed stray. Tumors on left eyelid, over her hips- on her foot. Evidence of multiple breeding events. Horrible teeth. and too sickly to even be vaccinated or spayed. Almost hairless and skinny, too. All the tumors are reported benign, her dental's been done, she's now spayed, and not sickly anymore. Her fur's growing in well, and she's gained about 10 pounds so far. Allergies are AWFUL!!!! Cage had things pretty good for awhile, till the little boy developed nasty allergies- first to the cat and then to the dobe. So both of the latter got rehomed. Cage is a gorgeous boy- big and beautiful except for the loss of much of his ears. Seems his ear crop was done by laser and became infected to the point that the vet's suggestion was to remove the ears. So he's kinda got pit bull ear crops. He doesn't know that though- and he still thinks he "all that".... He spent a lot of time in a bedroom while his people tried to lessen the effects on the kid's allergies- but it didn't work. This is a cutie pie of a pup...weighs 8 pounds and probably had been a house dog. He's a little unpredictable with some people since we can't tell if he's happy or not. He just loves Lisa and Anna but not particularly Judie. Fortunately, Judie doesn't have a sensitive nature when it comes to dog's preferences.... He was a stray and scared half out of his wits when we met him. Not so much now but his past life may haunt him a bit. He needs a super special human home and will be forever grateful for that right person.
